Positive Impact Support Groups (August 2013)
Support groups meet on a weekly basis, unless otherwise noted. Pre-screening to attend most groups is required. Any open (drop-in) support groups will be noted as such. Groups are limited in size; please contact the group facilitator to enquire about availability. There is no cost to attend a support group at Positive Impact. Please note that group schedules may change.

Monday
Continuing Care
6:00PM – 8:00PM Mondays and Wednesdays

The Continuing Care program is designed to assist HIV-positive individuals in recovery sustain a satisfying and sober style of life. The 120 day program consists of two weekly group sessions, one individual session each week and random drug screens. Prescreening and registration is required. Living Well with HIV: For Long Term Survivors

A group for persons with HIV who are interested in self-improvement as they learn to live well with HIV. Group members will assist one another in recognizing, accepting and overcoming life’s challenges.

An open psychotherapy group for HIV-positive men who seek help with challenges related to the combination of sex and drug/alcohol use. This group intends to provide a safe and supportive atmosphere where group members can enhance their understanding and set individual goals while connecting with others who face similar challenges.  *This group requires pre-screening. A weekly group for HIV-negative men who seek a safe space to discuss issues and concerns related to relationships and safer sex practices. This open group runs in 8-week increments and topics are chose weekly by participants. The facilitators' request that you call ahead to let them know you will be attending to insure that the group is running that week, as there are breaks between each 8-week increment.

This group is designed for people diagnosed HIV positive in the past two years and for those who are partnered with someone diagnosed positive within the past two years. The focus of this group is educational and emotional components of new diagnosis such as doctor’s appointments, disclosure, negative attitude, medication, coping and stigma. Note: Registration required by October 8. Group runs for 6 weeks beginning October 15.

A support and spirituality group for persons with HIV. Group will have periodic presenters from various spiritual/religious traditions. *Pre-registration required. This group meets at 2801 Buford Hwy (I-85 and North Druid Hills Road).

A closed psychotherapy group for men and women diagnosed with HIV within the past 18 to 24 months that are seeking information and support. This group will address concerns such as medication, healthcare, survival and disclosure. *Requires 6 week commitment and pre-registration.
