FAQs: Substance Abuse & HIV

1. What happens if I relapse during treatment?
We understand that relapse is often a part of the recovery process and everyones relapse is different. We assess each persons relapse on an individual basis and, depending on the circumstances, we will typically not terminate the person from services. We formulate a plan to stabilize and refocus treatment through relapse interventions, including treatment plan revision.

2. Will my mental health diagnosis prevent me from receiving treatment?
Cases are evaluated on an individual basis and if a client has needs beyond the scope and capabilities of our program, we will provide referrals to appropriate services.

3. Does the substance abuse program provide housing?
No. However, the program has established numerous collaborations with appropriate transitional and permanent housing providers in the metro-Atlanta area that are conducive to the treatment process.

4. Do you serve meals in the substance abuse program?
No. However, snacks are provided during the intensive treatment component due to the length of a program day (4 hours).

5. Can my family or significant other participate in my treatment process?
Provisions can be made for family members or significant others to obtain counseling (individual, family, and/or couples) as a part of the enrolled clients treatment plan.

6. What if I have family members or a significant other who are also seeking addiction treatment. Can we both/all enroll in the program?
It is not recommended that closely associated persons enroll together in the same program. However, referrals will be provided to an appropriate treatment program for the individual that does not enroll in the program.
